My Story

I earned my medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, and I am board certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine.  I have been serving the Baton Rouge community for nearly 25 years as a family physician. I am committed to partner with my patients to foster their wellness for life.

Over the course of the past 25 years in my capacity as a family physician, I have had the privilege of caring for a multitude of patients. Among them, a significant portion has grappled with obesity, leading to associated health challenges such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, various forms of cancer, mental health issues like depression, chronic joint pain, and more.

At Wellness & Health Clinic, our unwavering dedication is to offer comprehensive wellness services and primary care for acute illnesses, all while assisting our patients in their journey to maintain a healthy weight. Drawing from my extensive experience in the field of family medicine, I have honed the ability to view health concerns through a holistic lens. This enables me to guide our patients towards achieving overall wellness and reaching their optimal weight.

Our approach prioritizes gradual, sustainable behavioral modifications coupled with the cultivation of healthy eating habits. We also advocate for routine physical activity that aligns with each patient's unique lifestyle. Our goal is to create a tailored plan that ensures a realistic path to wellness, empowering our patients to make lasting changes for a healthier and happier life.

Primary Care Medicine with Emphasis on Healthy Weight:

My passion is to offer comprehensive medical care focused on behavior modification, a healthy lifestyle, and a nutritional diet plan. Individuals can obtain their routine primary medical care needs while weight-loss interventions are done as needed over the period of their care at our clinic.  Patients are provided necessary weight management educational tools for prevention of unhealthy weight. This “one-stop-medical care” model is important for ensuring continuity of care, avoiding needs to seek surgical or other weight loss means when treatment for the morbid condition is weight loss.

During my experiences as a family physician, I have treated thousands of individuals, many  with  excess unhealthy weight suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, many types of cancers, depression / mental illnesses, chronic joint pains, etc. It is a known fact that unhealthy weight leads to these medical conditions. Our commitment is to help our patients to achieve a healthy weight, and to promote wellness through services customized to fit the individual’s specific needs.

My undergraduate degree in diet and nutrition from Louisiana State University planted the seeds for my passion for a comprehensive weight management program that would focus on behavior modification complemented by a healthy lifestyle and a nutritional eating plan.  I believe in maintaining a positive mindset, creating partnerships with a purpose, and always striving for significant outcomes. When you work with me, you should expect a collaboration with transparency and consistency.
