Meet Mary Thomas, MD
During my past 25 years, as a family physician, I have treated thousands of individuals, many of whom were obese suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases, many types of cancers, depression / mental illnesses, chronic joint pains, etc.
Our commitment at Wellness & Health Clinic is to provide wellness services and routine primary care for acute illnesses, while helping our patients to maintain their healthy weight. With my experience in family medicine, I learned to recognize health problems holistically, and to guide patients toward wellness and optimum weight. The model emphasizes gradual behavioral changes combined with healthy eating habits, and routine physical activity that is realistic to each patients lifestyle.

Dr. Thomas was literally an answer to my prayers. I had been working out at boot camp religiously and trying to eat healthily. However, despite making true efforts to lose weight, the scale would only go up, rarely down. On top of that, when I was four years old, I had a non-cancerous tumor wrapped around my pituitary gland and both the tumor and the gland had to be removed. As a result, I’ve had issues losing weight, metabolism and other pituitary related issues.
So, when I saw my primary care doctor, Dr. Lauren Moore, at the end of January 2020, it’s fair to say I was miserable. I told her I could either get my healthy food part right or the boot camp part right, but not both. She referred me to Dr. Marykutty Thomas. Dr.Thomas is very open minded and willing to discuss other supplements or ideas if they come up. I also loved the fact that the supplements and medications are affordable as well as Dr. Thomas' office taking insurance. Some places that deal with weight loss, you pay solely out of pocket and it gets expensive fast.
Dr. Thomas has done what no one else has been able to do. And the proof is in the pictures. I went from 204 at the end of Jan 2020 to now weighing 153 in September 2020, down 51 lbs. I GREATLY and WITH ALL MY HEART and with now way less of my FAT, recommend Dr. Thomas in meeting your weight loss needs. She’s been the only person in many years that has gotten me to be able to be so close to my goal weight, despite previously believing my weight loss goals were simply unattainable.

I have spent most of my life, overweight. At my biggest, I was 265 pounds and wore size 22 pants and a 3X shirt. Today I weigh 185 am in size 12 pants and an XL shirt. I have not been in size 12 since high school. I began seeing Dr. Thomas in January of 2018. It took me about eight months to get to my current size and weight, which I have maintained. I have not been this healthy since I was in high school.
I have been to a weight loss clinic before and lost a fair bit of weight to gain it back. Those doctors were only there to write a script and get you in and out of the office. They didn’t look at the whole health of a person.
Most of my family has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I did not want to end up that way. So, when I ran into a friend from high school that had lost so much weight that I didn’t recognize him, I had to find out what he did. He told me about Dr. Thomas.
From the very first moment I met her, I knew she was different. She was not just going to write a script. She took the time to get to know me and my whole medical history. She schedules plenty of time to interact with patients and plan for them specifically. She also does this on return visits, which gives her and the patient enough time to go over results and tweak or change the plan if necessary.
I know I will have to be careful and watch my weight for the rest of my life, but with the guidance given to me by Dr. Thomas, I will stay on the right path.
